Boss Strategies of Bionicle: Masks of the Elders

1. Tunnel Patrol Mech

Element: Steel
Skills:
Attack, Percussive Shot, Defend, Charge Up

Recommended Level: 5-6

Equip:
Arikan: Practice Disk, None, Hammer, Matoran Mask, Hydruka Claw
Raika: Short Staff, Guard's Armor, None, Matoran Mask, Fist Rock

Strategy:
Heed the warning at the beginning of the battle: Using Attack will be all but useless against this thing.
Notice how I included its element in the profile up there; that's not important now, since you won't
have Elements to combat it for a while yet. Instead, use what you have: To-hun. Keep smashing it with
Feral Claw from Raika and Rockfist from Arikan until you're running low on HP and SP, then heal. After
a while, his Percussive Shot attack will become more frequent, so be prepared, having Arikan switch to
item duty in the last half of the battle. Keep it up, and this beast will eventually fall, and you'll have
beaten your first boss of the game.

2. Vahlkri Squad

HP: 108 each, 648 total
Element: Various
Skills:
Scanner, Recharge, [Lv 1 Elemental attacks]

Recommended Level: 7-8

Equip:
Arikan: Sports Disk, Focus Armor, Hammer, Matoran Mask, Hydruka Claw
Raika: Short Staff, Heavy Armor, None, Matoran Mask, Brakas Wrench OR Fist Rock
Yorus: Practice Disk OR Sports Disk, Scout's Armor, None, Matoran Mask, Odd Crystal OR Brakas
Wrench
Xu: LOCKED.

Strategy:
This is a two-phase battle. Start off with getting rid of whatever is weak against your party (since you
should have Yorus as a Water elemental, she's not good offensively). If you followed the
Walkthrough's directions, here's how it should go down: Start with Arikan (Wind) taking out Nuuron
(Fire), Rorzon (Earth) and Keeron (Ice). Have Raika (Stone) attack Vorzon (Wind). Have Yorus (Water)
heal when necessary (and since Scanner lowers Defense, it will become necessary), and have Xu (Ice)
attack Bordon (Water). This just leaves Rorzon, so when the rest are done, smash him with To-hun
(you will probably have to use some Leaves to restore SP during the battle). Again, Scanner lowers
Defense, and they'll all bombard you with it, so be sure to keep Yorus' healing skill at the ready
whenever you need it. Also, Rorzon knows Stun Quake, a nasty move that could immobilize the party,
so be sure to have some Takuna Vials at the ready (and make sure you have some for later, when you
go into the next dungeon).

3. Exo Golem

HP: 1,000
Element: Earth
Skills:
Percussive Shot, Stun Quake, Charge Up, Skewer, Attack, Defend

Recommended Level: 9-10

Equip:
Arikan: Sports Disk, Focus Armor, Hammer, Matoran Mask, Hydruka Claw OR Mountain Fragment.
Raika: Short Staff, Heavy Armor, None, Matoran Mask, Hydruka Claw OR Mountain Fragment.
Yorus: Spike Staff OR Sports Disk, Scout's Armor, Climbing Hooks, Noble Hau, Hydruka Claw OR
Mountain Fragment.
Xu: LOCKED.

Strategy:
This is going to be a tough fight. If you gave Arikan the Wind element, it'll be easier. If not, at least you
have Xu, with his Ice abilities, to keep you going. Now, the trick to this fight is to have each character
perform a specific role. Here's where Yorus (if she's water) becomes especially valuable, and giving her
the Noble Hau from the mountainside is a very good idea: She's the healer of the group. For this early
in the game, Healing Bubble is more than enough to maintain the party. Then there's Arikan, if he's
Wind, with the main offensive. Keep up Gust and the fight will get a lot shorter. If you don't have a
Wind character, you do have Xu, so use his Ice skills, which also do wonders against the Exo Golem. As
for Raika, Rock doesn't do much good, so keep him on item duty, since Healing Bubble doesn't restore
KO'd allies. Also, watch out for Stun Quake, since that'll stop your party in your tracks if it hits.
